英语话题作文 篇1

Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that drunk driving has become a grave problem in China in the past few years. Reports are often heard about deaths and injuries resulting from drunk driving. Actually, the phenomenon has been so widespread that it has caused nationwide concern.

A number of factors might have led to this problem, but the following are the critical ones. First, as a nation known for wine and drinking, Chinese have the custom of urging guests to drink more and regard it as a sign of hospitality. Some even encourage

drivers to drink. Secondly, the boom of Chinese economy in the past decades has brought along a sharp increase in the number of private cars in this country. However, many drivers are not fully aware of the danger of driving after drinking. Last but not least, laws and regulations regarding drunk driving were not severe enough in the past.

To our relief, we can see pertinent laws and regulations have been worked out and enforced to punish those who drive after drinking. However, I believe that more can be done to eliminate drunk driving. For one thing, severer laws can be made and put

into effect. For another, the public should be educated about the harmfulness of drunk driving and the importance of traffic safety.

As we know, a growing outbreak of H one N one flu has been sparked in many countries. An increasing number of cases are being reported every day。

Its thought that H one N one flu spreads in the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses do, that is, spreading from person-to-person, mainly through the coughs and sneezes of people who are sick with the virus。

Faced with this severe disease, here are some everyday measures we should take to stay healthy. First, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way. If you get sick, stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them。

Finally, H one N one flu is not a terribly deadly disease, which is curable. So, dont be nervous and just keep calm as usual。

　　Maintaining Friendship

By saying “Rare as is true love, true friendship is rarer”, Jean de la Fontaine has pointed out the importance of friendship. Nowadays, it seems that people get closer to each other by means of the increasingly advanced communicating technologies, yet the closeness of hearts has in fact been distanced. Therefore, it is high time that we should attach great importance to maintain this precious sentiment.

Everyone need the warmth of friendship. In good times, friendship is flowers growing fast because we irritate it by sharing our joy and happiness; in adversity, friendship is a dose of consolation since friends are always there ready to help. Also, friendship is the effective lubricator for cooperative organizations, communities and different countries in the process of cooperation and development.

As friendship is so important in our life, actions should be taken to pursue and maintain it. And it involves trust and honesty in establishing and maintaining true friendship. Frankness and uprightness contribute to a good relationship. Moreover, tolerance and modesty also help promote the closeness of friends. Only by doing these things will we retain our friend sand keep the lamp of friendship burning long.
