英语高中作文400字 篇1

　　It is Chinese tradition to give children red pocket money during Spring Festival. The red pocket money means the good wishes to the children. But as the time went by, the amount of money needs to be added, and some people even judge a person by the money that he gives to the children. It has become a burden for the young people, because if they don’t give a lot of red pocket money to the children, others will look down upon them. For the young people, they are under great pressure. They need to pay for the house and meet the basic needs. Sometimes the pocket money may cost more than a month’s salary. What a great burden. The meaning of red pocket money is to bring luck to children, instead of asking for money.

　　when i was a small child, my family lived in the village. it was just after the war, and many usually made our own toys, or we played with the animals or insects around our house. we looked for crickets or snakes during the summer afternoon. at might we went out to the fields to catch fireflies. sometimes we just played with sand, rocks, tree branches, or small birds. in contrast, a visit to a big toy store in the city today is very eciting. there are so many different toys to see, hear, and touch that i always feel like being a small child again.

　　Spring festival is a Chinese traditional holiday, but many people do not know the real meaning of this celebration. More and more people prefer to celebrate spring festival by watching the spring festival gala and ma-ki-ng lots of fireworks rather than get along with their relatives. I think the true meaning of this festival is that families get together to talk about each other. So, I suggest people spend more time with their family rather than pay too much attention to the TV or fireworks, because that is the spirit of the spring festival.

英语高中作文400字 篇5

　　it is never a disgrace to say, ‘i can not afford it.’ it is shameful to commit yourself to ependiture you know you can not really afford and should not make – just because someone else urges you to go against your own better judgment. i have respect for the person for who can say without any self-consciousness at all, simply and cheerfully, ‘i can not afford it.’ but i hate to hear a long-drawn-out eplanation of why . as a matter of fact, we should never demand to know why a person can not spend money on something he says he can not afford unless there is s sound reason for his finding some way to afford it. then you may, if you feel you should, try to show him that way, quietly and without irritating him.

　　the sorts and kinds of love are infinite in number, infinite as the days of the years of time. each one of us is capable of many and various loves. we cannot love two creatures, not two dogs, with the same love. to each of those whom we love we offer a gem of different colour and value;
