if i were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; i would let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. i would remember that a good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once.the habit of attention becomes part of our life, if we begin early enough. i often hear grown up people say “ i could not fix my attention on the sermon or book, although I wished to do so” , and the reason is, the habit was not formed in youth.

It is known to all that China has the history of more than 5,000 years and the culture influences generations. No matter where people live, they keep the traditional festivals. Such as the people who live in Chinatown. Though some of them have been immigrants, they still celebrate the traditional festivals. So in every corner of Chinatown, the Chinese traditional features can be seen everywhere. The preservation of the traditional culture is the key to help the country live so long. After the long period of time, the essence of the culture part have been inherited while the negative part has been removed. Many culture even influences the foreign country, such as Confucius Institution, where foreigners learn Chinese culture and mandarin. Though we are facing the impact of Hollywood culture, the traditional festivals provides an important way to save local culture.
A is superior to B in DOING C. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer.
1、Something we all cannot neglect as we get older is to accept the opinions of others. On the question whether it is better to CHOOSE A or CHOOSE B, I have long admitled that A has a strong argument. B. I disagree with the above statement and support the superiority of B. Although(2)A 具备的优势。There is no evidence to suggest that (3)A 胜于 B. What’s more, (4)A 的一个缺点。It also has been said that (5)A 的`第二个缺点。To be sure, (6) 支持 B 的一个理由。 Another thing why I dispute the statement above is that I am very sure that (7) 支持 B 的另一个理由。 In conclusion, A could never equal B (9)A 和 B 的比较,总结观点。
2、This controversy deseribes the dilcmma faced by many people. As for me, I agree with the above statement that A is superior to B in DOING C. It is an obvious fact that (1) 赞同 A 比 B 好的第一个原因。 Another reason I should point out lies in the fact that (3) 赞同 A 比 B 好的第二个原因。In today’s world,(4) 举例说明。This may explain why A is better than B. on the other hand , a common sense goes that (5)B
Many people believe that a large income equal success.I believe, however, success is more than how much money you make.Measures of success also include fame, respect, and knowledge.
Becoming famous is one way to show one is success. So many scientists and researchers have made great contribution to our nation and they don’t possess too much wealth. But they are awarded with fame and great honors and thus become nationwide well-known.No one could say they are not successful.I also believe that being respected by coworkers indicates success.Without that respect, money mean little. We just call people with big money and no respect “they are rich” and nothing more, while for those surrounded by respect,we’d like to say “This guy is really marvelous. He made it in his life.”
In conclusion,we don’t memorize people simply because they were rich.Overall,we remember people who were influential in politics,or contributed to science or art or religion. If history is the ultimate judge of success, then money surely isn’t everything.
years ago, when i started looking for my first job, wise advisers urged, "barbara, be enthusiastic! enthusiasm will take you further than any amount of eperience."
how right they were. enthusiastic people can turn a boring drive into an adventure, etra work into opportunity and strangers into friends."nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm," wrote ralph waldo emerson. it is the paste that helps you hang in there when the going gets tough. it is the inner voice that whispers, "i can do it!" when others shout, "no, you cant."
it took years and years for the early work of barbara mcclintock, a geneticist who won the 1983 nobel prize in medicine, to be generally accepted. yet she didnt let up on her eperiments. work was such a deep pleasure for her that she never thought of stopping.we are all born with wide-eyed, enthusiastic wonder as anyone knows who has ever seen an infants delight at the jingle of keys or the scurrying of a beetle.
it is this childlike wonder that gives enthusiastic people such a youthful air, whatever their age.at 90, cellist pablo casals would start his day by playing bach. as the music flowed through his fingers, his stooped shoulders would straighten and joy would reappear in his eyes. music, for casals, was an eliir that made life a never ending adventure. as author and poet samuel ullman once wrote, "years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul."
how do you rediscover the enthusiasm of your childhood? the answer, i believe, lies in the word itself. "enthusiasm" comes from the greek and means "god within." and what is god within is but an abiding sense of love -- proper love of self (self-acceptance) and, from that, love of others.enthusiastic people also love what they do, regardless of money or title or power. if we cannot do what we love as a full-time career, we can as a part-time avocation, like the head of state who paints, the nun who runs marathons, the eecutive who handcrafts furniture.
elizabeth layton of wellsville, kan, was 68 before she began to draw. this activity ended bouts of depression that had plagued her for at least 30 years, and the quality of her work led one critic to say, "i am tempted to call layton a genius." elizabeth has rediscovered her enthusiasm.we cant afford to waste tears on "might-have-beens." we need to turn the tears into sweat as we go after "what-can-be."
we need to live each moment wholeheartedly, with all our senses -- finding pleasure in the fragrance of a back-yard garden, the crayoned picture of a si-year-old, the enchanting beauty of a rainbow. it is such enthusiastic love of life that puts a sparkle in our eyes, a lilt in our steps and smooths the wrinkles from our souls.
